KTM RC 1290 Summary
The upcoming KTM RC 1290 design will be inspired by the RC 8C but we expect it to look much more sophisticated and refined than its sibling. It will use GRP with carbon kevlar reinforced fairings to achieve a light kerb weight. Beneath its aerodynamic design, this supersport will be based on a chromium-molybdenum steel trellis frame. The license plate holder and taillights will be bolted directly onto its composite subframe. It will be equipped with a single-sided swingarm made up of cast aluminium which will give it the perfect level of agility and stability. The KTM RC 1290 will be featuring 48 mm WP APEX upside-down front forks with split function compression and rebound settings. At the rear end, it will get a fully adjustable WP Apex mono-shock absorber.
KTM RC 1290 will be powered by a 1,301cc LC8, V-Twin engine with a twin spark ignition system. It will use a Keihin engine management system with RBW. This supersport will churn out 180 hp of maximum power and 140 Nm of maximum torque. It will be mated to a 6-speed PANKL gearbox and it will also get a bi-directional quick-shifter. The power-assisted slipper clutch will help it prevent rear wheel locking due to back torque produced during aggressive downshifting. The KTM RC 1290 will be packed with riding aids like traction control, motor slip regulation, supermoto ABS, and cruise control. The braking system of this supersport will include twin 320 mm discs with Brembo callipers on the front wheel and a single 240 mm disc with Brembo callipers on the rear wheel.
KTM RC 1290 Features
Along with LED headlamps, the RC 1290 will also come with LED taillight and LED turn signals like the upcoming KTM RC 150 . It will be equipped with a feature-loaded TFT instrument cluster that will display a wide range of riding telemetry. This supersport will offer the rider to choose between three riding modes, rain, street, & sport. The customers will also have the option to opt for the additional track and performance modes. Its twin-channel Bosch ABS system will also have cornering and supermoto modes. KTM RC 1290 will also get a tyre pressure monitor system and auto-cancelling turn signals like its streetfighter sibling.
KTM RC 1290 Price and Launch Date in India
Till now, KTM was not keen on entering the higher cc supersport segment but the brand has recently introduced a track-only RC 8C. KTM might consider launching a supersport version based on the mighty Super Duke R in near future. The KTM RC 1290 price in India could be around Rs 18.00 Lakh. The Austrian brand will first launch this supersport in the International market and then it might make its way to the Indian shores.
Does the KTM RC 1290 Make Sense?
The litre-class supersport segment is currently dominated by Japanese and Italian brands. Maybe it’s time for KTM to enter this segment and stir things up. The Upcoming RC 1290 will be based upon the fan favourite Super Duke under its aerodynamic body. It will boast a proven LC8 V-twin engine that will pump out 180 horsepower. It will be tuned to deliver an engaging and riveting performance on the track. Like its sibling, this supersport will be equipped with top-class components and class-leading electronics. We are very excited to see the KTM RC 1290, as it will be one of the most distinctive supersport motorcycles in the market.
