KTM RC 500 Summary
There is a high probability that the upcoming RC 500 will carry the same design language as the new RC 200 & RC 390. Although KTM has received strong criticism for the design of the new RC models, the brand is not likely to work on a new design for this upcoming supersport. It will be equipped with a 43 mm Inverted WP Apex suspension at the front and a WP Apex mono-shock suspension at the rear. The KTM RC 500 will feature a single 320 mm disc brake on the front wheel and a single 230 mm disc brake on the rear wheel. It will get the twin-channel BOSCH ABS system with supermoto and cornering modes.

The KTM RC 500 will be powered by a new twin-cylinder engine with a double overhead camshaft design. Its engine will be linked to a 6-speed transmission and it will also get a quick shifter that will allow clutchless shifts. KTM will equip this supersport with a motorcycle traction control system and a power-assisted anti-hopping slipper clutch. Hopefully, it will deliver the same crispy acceleration and amazing top-end performance as the smaller RC 390. The KTM RC 500 will get a digital colour TFT instrument panel and a full LED lighting system. It will offer sporty riding ergonomics and sharp handling. This supersport will get 5-spoke alloy wheels and wide radial tubeless tyres.
KTM RC 500 Price and Launch in India
This upcoming supersport is currently being developed in Bajaj’s R & D centre in Pune. As per the reports, it will be manufactured in India in the Bajaj Chakan facility. The localised production will help the brand save a lot of cost and price it competitively. The price of the KTM RC 500 in India is expected to be around Rs 4.2 lakh. It will compete against the Honda CBR500R and the Upcoming Kawasaki Ninja 500.
Rival of this Supersport
A lot of new models are lined for launch in the mid-capacity segment from brands like Kawasaki, Yamaha, and Honda. Currently, Yamaha R5 and Kawasaki Ninja 500 are under development and they may soon hit the Indian market. Even Honda is planning to launch the CBR500R in the Indian market soon. The KTM RC 500 will have a tough competition ahead from the Japanese brands.
Does the KTM RC 500 Make Sense?
Absolutely, the single-cylinder KTM RC bikes offer exceptional performance but they lack refinement. This upcoming RC 500 will offer solid performance without compromising on refinement due to its twin-cylinder engine. It will be packed with class-leading riding aids and equipment that will give it an edge. The KTM RC 500 is going to be one of the most exciting bikes in the mid-capacity segment if it is priced aggressively.
