Yamaha MT-05 Summary
Well if we talk about the design, the MT-05 will most likely carry the same aggressive-looking design as the current-gen MT series bikes. You will get to see this streetfighter with minimalistic bodywork and three colour options. Its mass-forward body design will give it a sporty riding ergonomic. It will be based on a lightweight diamond-type frame derived from its bigger sibling. The Yamaha MT-05 will be equipped with inverted telescopic forks at the front end and a link-type mono-shock absorber at the rear end. Yamaha will provide a powerful set of hydraulic disc brakes with a dual-channel ABS system on this streetfighter.
The Yamaha MT-05 will come with the new twin-cylinder, four-stroke engine with advanced electronic fuel injection. Its liquid-cooled engine will deliver torque-rich performance and it will be linked to a 6-speed transmission. This streetfighter will also feature an assist and slipper clutch system. The 500cc powerplant of the MT-05 should be able to produce nearly 60 PS of maximum power. It will come with a full LED lighting system and it will boast a sporty side-slung exhaust. The Yamaha MT-05 will feature a high-tech digital instrument cluster with real-time fuel consumption and gear position indicators. It will run sporty alloy wheels with wide radial tubeless tyres.
Yamaha MT-05 Price and Launch in India
The all-new 500c platform is reportedly still under development and Yamaha has not disclosed any official information about this. The MT-05 is expected to be seen in its production-ready avatar in early 2024 along with the India-spec Yamaha Lander XTZ 250. The brand is expected to display the production-spec model at one of the auto shows next year. The Yamaha MT-05 price in India is reckoned to be around Rs 5.10 Lakh.
Does the Yamaha MT-05 Make Sense?
Well, the competition in the mid-capacity segment is heating up as popular brands are coming up with new launches. Yamaha currently doesn’t have any bikes in this segment except for the smaller MT-03. The new Yamaha MT-05 will help the brand compete against the likes of the Kawasaki Z400 & upcoming KTM RC 500. We expect it to boast the same premium fit and finish as its siblings. If priced attractively it could be a great alternative to the likes of the Z400, CB400F, & Duke 500.
