Yamaha R15 V5 Summary
You won’t get to see any major design changes in the upcoming Yamaha R15 V5, but it will get a few styling tweaks. It will also be offered in new colour schemes and graphics that represent its racing DNA. It will be based on a lightweight delta box frame that has been used on the older-gen models. This sports bike will feature upside downs inverted forks like the KTM RC 150, which will provide improved rigidity and stability at high speeds and while approaching tight corners. At the rear, it will be equipped with a swingarm-linked mono-cross suspension. The Yamaha R15 will make use of a 282 mm disc brake on the front wheel and a 220 mm disc brake on the rear wheel.
It will continue using the 155c, single-cylinder, 4-stroke, SOHC powertrain derived from the 4th generation model. The Yamaha R15 will be able to produce 18.4 PS power at 10,000 rpm and 14.2 Nm torque at 7,500 rpm. Its engine will use a variable valve actuation system that will help it deliver consistent torque throughout the rev band. As it will be using an electronic fuel injection system, it will deliver a smooth throttle response and good fuel economy. Yamaha R15 V5 will offer impressive top-end performance as it will be paired to a 6-speed gearbox. It will be equipped with 17-inch alloy wheels with a radial tubeless tyre at the rear.

The Yamaha R15 V5 will be equipped with plenty of high-tech and segment-first features. It will feature a bi-functional LED headlight with sleek daytime running lamps and a LED taillight. It will also get LED turn signals as standard which is currently offered only on the R15M. Instead of a fully digital LCD instrument cluster, the R15 V5 will feature a new colour TFT instrument console. Its TFT console will display speed, tachometer, odometer, trip, fuel level, battery voltage, and gear position. Around the instrument cluster, it will also feature ABS, TCS, and engine temperature indicators. Its TFT console will allow smartphone connectivity via the Y-Connect App.
This sports bike will be equipped with various safety features and riding aids. The Yamaha R15 V5 will come with a traction control system that will help reduce wheelspin and slippage. A dual-channel anti-lock braking system will enable precise braking and it will also reduce the chances of wheel lock-ups under aggressive braking. It will also get a quick shifter as standard, which is offered as an optional accessory on the current-gen model. Yamaha R15 V5 will be equipped with a side-stand engine cut-off switch. It will also get a stepped seat with integrated grabrails that will complement its sporty design.

It may take a while before the R15 V5 is revealed as it is still undergoing development. A production-ready version of this sports bike will be showcased at one of the auto shows next year. The R15 is set to launch in India in the second half of 2024. However, the brand has not released any official information about this sports bike as of now. Does the Yamaha R15 V5 Make Sense?

However, the current gen model misses out on some features that the top-spec R15M has to offer. The upcoming R15 V5 is expected to be laden with a lot of premium features and top-class equipment. It will continue to use the same 155cc powerplant that delivers around 18.4 PS of power. Features like traction control, quick shifter, and slipper clutch on the Yamaha R15 V5 will further enhance the riding experience.
Its high-end suspension setup and lightweight chassis will enhance its handling and make it easy to manoeuvre. It will be packed with new-age features, that will further boost its value proposition. However, apart from a few cosmetic changes and new certain features, we don’t expect any major changes on this supersport. The Yamaha R15 V5 will continue to dominate the entry-level sports bike segment in India but don’t expect too much in terms of upgrades over the current gen-model.
