Yamaha RXG 135 Summary
The Yamaha RXG 135 comes with a slim and compact design like the RX 100. The last-gen model of this bike was available in three colour options. It is based on a lightweight double cradle type frame which also provides good rigidity. It gets an oil damped telescopic suspension at the front and dual rear shock absorbers with 5 position adjustability. The braking duties on the Yamaha RXG 135 are assigned to 130 mm drum brakes on both wheels. Its wheelbase is 1,240 mm and this bike has a turning radius of only 2.1 meters. It offers a fuel tank capacity of 10.5 litres and the seat height of this commuter bike is 765 mm.
Yamaha has packed this commuter bike with a fiery 132cc single-cylinder, two-stroke engine. It is linked to a 4-speed transmission and it gets a multi-disc type clutch. The Yamaha RXG 135 produces 12 hp of max power at 7,500 rpm and 10.5 Nm of max torque at 6,500 rpm. This street bike delivers good performance but its fuel economy is disappointing. It has a kerb weight of only 106 kg which makes it more nimble and helps it accelerate quicker than other commuter bikes. The Yamaha RXG 135 gets an analogue instrument cluster and it features a round-shaped halogen headlight. It is equipped with wire-spoked wheels like the Honda CG 125.
Yamaha RXG 135 Price and Competition
The price of the last generation model of the Yamaha RXG 135 in India was Rs 38,000. It was brought to replace the RX 100 which was losing to the completion from other brands like Kawasaki and Suzuki. Sadly it didn’t work well in the Indian market for some reasons. Yamaha discontinued the RXG 135 and relaunched an upgraded version of this bike named the RX 135, which turned out to be a great success for the brand. The brand is also planning to launch a modern-day Yamaha RX 155 soon.
Should You Buy the Yamaha RXG 135?
The RXG 135 was more powerful, stylish, and feature-loaded than the RX 100 but somehow it didn’t get the same love as its sibling. It featured a powerful 2-stroke engine that promised engaging performance. Sadly its mileage figures were not up to the mark compared to the other commuter bikes in this segment. The Yamaha RXG 135 was not a huge success and had a very short life but it made way for the legendary RX 135.
